In Memoriam

9/29/17: Longtime coach Sandra Green passed away on Friday, September 29. Sandra was a phenomenal friend, fantastic mentor and a fierce advocate for students. After competing in speech and debate, Sandra went on to teach/coach the activity for 30 years at Sanford-Fritch and Pflugerville High Schools. Sandra was a firm believer in the value of the activity in creating strong, intelligent, civically minded individuals and reinforced this belief through her teaching. Many of her students went on to become teachers and coaches in the activity. Following her retirement, she continued serving the community as a frequent TAB room assistant, procurer of judges and mentor to coaches, young and old. Her positivity and love of life set an amazing example to all she encountered. Sandra is survived by her daughter, Erin Stage (former coach at Jack C. Hays High School) and son, Matthew, as well as her three grandsons and countless 'adopted' family members all across the state.

Sandra's family has invited the speech/debate community to celebrate her life, share memories and toast the legacy of this awesome woman by joining them at a come-and-go happy hour following the TSCA convention:

Celebrating a Life Well Lived
Memorial happy hour for Sandra Greene

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating to the TILF scholarship in her name at http://www.tilfoundation.org/donate/become-a-donor/a-life-well-lived-sandra-greene-memorial-scholarship/ . Additionally, if you have special memories, notes or other words about Sandra, or old pictures with her, please jot those down on a 8.5x11 piece of paper (or smaller) and bring them to Kirsten Nash (you can include more than one if you desire) at convention registration and at both TFA Business Meetings to use for a scrapbook of positive thoughts for the family. Paper will also be available during those times for this purpose.
