Sunnyvale High School is hiring a Debate Coach for the 2023-2024 school year. The program was started in 2021, and our debaters have advanced to UIL State in Congress, CX, and LD Debate in the past year. The current full-time position involves a few sections of English, but subject assignment could change for the right candidate.

Primary Purpose: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in debate and English (or other academic subject area) to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and ability to excel in debate. Contribute to the education program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in UIL academics.

Trinity School, a coeducational, college-preparatory independent day school, seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic head coach/sponsor for our very successful upper school speech and debate program for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a full-time position which includes classroom teaching in Speech and Debate and in additional areas of interest/expertise. Speech and Debate related duties include operating and managing Speech and Debate expenditures; organizing and planning trips to Speech and Debate competitions; coach, teach and advise student participants both formally in class and informally before, during or after school; chaperoning competitors on overnight trips; judging debate and speech rounds at tournaments; advising students during competition; and driving school vehicles to and from events.

The University of Mary Hardin Baylor's College of Humanities and Sciences seeks qualified faculty for its Communication and Media Studies Department, beginning in late July of 2023, with initial appointment at the rank of Instructor (non-tenure track). UMHB seeks faculty who are active Christians and dedicated teacher-scholars to prepare students for leadership, service, and faith-informed discernment in a global society.

The Communication and Media Studies Department offers three undergraduate degree programs that include Speech Communication, Mass Communication, and Film Studies.

UMHB is conveniently located in Belton, an historic town of 22,000 in the heart of central Texas. Nearby cities are Temple (7 miles), Waco (42 miles), Austin (60 miles), San Antonio (130 miles) and Dallas/Ft. Worth (130 miles). Excellent schools, abundant cultural and recreational opportunities, and a high quality of life are hallmarks of the local community.

Faculty Responsibilities: Activities required of all faculty include exemplary teaching, curriculum development, student recruitment and advising, professional attainment; and service to department, college, university, and the community.

Specific Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in Public Speaking. Instructor teaching load is typically 15 hours each semester, yet the successful candidate will receive a course release each semester in order to coach Speech Cru, the award-winning competitive speech team at UMHB.
